This site was made to find better anime recommendations based on what actually makes a show feel unique. Recommendations are based on show's Setting and Content, Atmosphere, Characters, Narrative and Themes.
Try it out by typing in an anime that you like and click find!
Instead of looking for anime using their genres, my recommender compares the parts that make a show feel unique: its setting and content, characters, atmosphere, narrative, and themes.
You can search with default settings for good overall recommendations, or open the advanced settings if there's something specific you care about, or if you want to exclude shows that you've already watched!
If what you loved about Frieren: Beyond Journey's End was the atmosphere for example, turn Atmosphere up in the 'Advanced Settings'. If you mostly want another show with a similar cast, put more weight on Characters.
Explore maps anime based on how similar they are, letting you see clusters of related shows and how different recommendations connect to each other. You can switch between Setting and Content, Atmosphere, Characters, Narrative, and Themes to see how the map changes.
It also gives you a peek under the hood of the recommender. Clear, distinct clusters are generally a good sign that a dimension is separating different kinds of anime well, while messier areas can show where there is still room for improvement. The recommender is still being worked on, so these maps will change as it gets better!
Explore the Map→The most important part of improving the recommender is figuring out what people actually think feels similar or different between anime.
By judging things like setting, atmosphere, characters, narrative, and themes, of anime you can help give me better data to improve the recommendations for everyone!
You can contribute as much or as little as you want, so if you have a few minutes, please check out the contribute page!
If you use AniList or MyAnimeList, you can use your list so you only get shown anime you already know, which makes judging each one even faster!
