I built this because searching for “anime like this” often gives you shows that share a genre or premise, but don't actually feel very similar. Pick an anime you liked and I'll try to find the closest matches.
Instead of matching anime mainly by genre tags, this recommender compares the parts that make a show feel like itself: its setting and regular content, characters, atmosphere, narrative, and themes.
You can leave everything at the defaults and just search, or open the advanced settings if there's something specific you care about.
If what you loved about Frieren was the atmosphere, for example, turn Atmosphere up. If you mostly want another show with a similar cast, put more weight on Characters. The sliders are relative, so you only need to change what matters to you.
